C’est au Salon de Turin 1971 que le carrossier Bertone présentait la Lancia Stratos, un prototype de voiture de compétition développé par Marcello Gandini. Remplaçante de la vaillante Fulvia 1600HF, le cahier des charges avait été défini par Cesare Fiorio, le directeur de la compétition Lancia. Très basse, légère, bénéficiant d’un empattement ultra-court, motorisé par le V6 Dino Ferrari transversal central arrière de 2418 cm3 développant 190 CV, la Stratos affichait un rapport poids-puissance exceptionnel et devait s’imposer comme la référence absolue des voitures de rallyes dans les années soixante-dix. De 1972 à 1982, la Lancia Stratos totalisa 17 victoires en Championnat Mondial des rallyes, 50 succès dans le Championnat Européen et pas moins de 65 premières places dans des épreuves diverses. De 1975 à 1981, ce fut pour Bernard Darniche, le véritable septennat de l’état de grâce. Grâce à l’écurie montée par André Chardonnet, il remporta, avec son ami et co-pilote Alain Mahé au volant de la Stratos bleue, 41 victoires dont 4 mondiales. Vingt ans après, Darniche se rappelle de sa victoire homérique au rallye Monte Carlo 1979, de ses 5 victoires au Tour de Corse, de ses titres de Champion d’Europe en 1976 et 1977 et de Champion de France en 1976 et 1978. Pour notre plaisir, il nous invite à la conduite de cette sublime Stratos qui restera à jamais dans le cœur des passionnés de rallyes.

It is with the Living room of Turin 1971 that the Bertone carriage-builder presented Lancia Stratos, a prototype of car of competition developed by Marcello Gandini. Replacing valiant Fulvia 1600HF, the schedule of conditions had been defined by Cesare Fiorio, the director of the Lancia competition. Very low, light, profiting from an ultra-short footing, motorized by V6 Dino Ferrari transverse central back of 2418 Cm3 developing 190 CV, Stratos posted an exceptional weight-power ratio and were to be essential like the absolute reference of the cars of rallys in the Seventies. From 1972 to 1982, Lancia Stratos added up 17 victories in World Championship of the rallys, 50 successes in the Championship European and not less than the first 65 places in various tests. 1975 to 1981, it was for Bernard Darniche, the true septennate of the state of grace. Thanks to the stable assembled by Andre Chardonnet, it gained, with his friend and blue copilot Alain Mahé at the wheel of Stratos, 41 victories including 4 world. Twenty years after, Darniche remembers its Homeric victory to the rally Monte Carlo 1979, of its 5 victories to the Turn of Corsica, of his titles of Champion of Europe in 1976 and 1977 and Champion of France in 1976 and 1978. For our pleasure, it invites us to the control of this sublime Stratos which will remain forever in the heart of impassioned rallys.
