France benefits from a significant troglodyte heritage, especially in the area of cave paintings and religious sites. Despite the spatial and temporal distances that separate them, cave paintings and troglodyte Christian art are brought very close by belief. Our imaginary concepts, nourished by a Christian culture, see the origin as a cave, the inception of a subterranean world…The apparent invulnerability of that "world beneath", in historical terms, has made it the best shelter for man as well as for the sacred and eternal. We delve to our roots and our beliefs, bringing together the sacred and the profane through myths, phantasms with the fears and hopes that dwellers there projected onto these spaces.
